A new update for Sage Fixed Assets, version 2019.1, was released in 2019. It includes changes in accordance with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which was signed into law December 22, 2017.* Updates designed to keep you compliant are specifically included in Sage Fixed Assets—Depreciation.
Unfortunately, after installing this update, Sage 100 users on version 2017 or earlier receive errors when running forms and reports. They typically begin with the message, “Unable to cast COM object,” and may look something like this screen below
Never fear! A two-stage solution is available to resolve these errors without upgrading to v2018.
Step 1
In your home directory where Sage is located, replace the current pvxwin32.exe.config with a new version of the file provided by Sage.
Doing so will resolve the errors for anyone who already has FAS 2019.1 loaded. Note that this fix will adversely affect users on the network who do not have FAS. Proceed to step 2 for a workaround to resolve issues for all Sage users.
Step 2
Install the FAS client on all individual workstations that run Sage. This will resolve errors for all users and will not create any licensing issues as only users with a current license should be provided with the credentials to access the install.
Please note users running Sage in a terminal server environment where the Fixed Assets client is also installed should only need to undergo step one of the solution.
Hopefully, by taking these simple steps, you’ll be able to proceed, error-free! If not, AP experts Support is always here for you and happy to assist! Contact us via phone at 800-796-0471.
