Using furniture has been part of our life as long as we can remember, it helps us keep things secure.

Furniture acts as the central part of room decor, and we invest in bed, cupboards, dining tables to live a comfortable life.

In offices, you will find furniture like a desk, table, cabinets which help in running the place smoothly.

We often have to rely on carpenters to fix any issue that the furniture has and it can waste a lot of our time as well as money.

Even simple tasks like adjusting the knob can not be done if we don’t have the perfect tool.

If you have wood furniture at home, it is advisable to keep a few tools that you can use from time to time.

Many like you and me don’t have carpentry skills, but here are some tips that will help you avoid making mistakes when it comes to woodwork.

Go through the article to know a few tips and tricks to solve any issue you may face.

7 Tips for carpentry problems:-

Select Right Kind of Tool

It is vital that you select the right kind of tool for a particular issue. If you go for the wrong tool it makes the situation worse.

For example, in a screwdriver set, you get multiple heads because there are many types of nail, and to screw it perfectly, the screw needs to be made with the nail.

Similarly, furniture sometimes requires buffing off or recovering any dents on it for which you need proper tools.

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a toolset, then you can try rental services that offer such power tools.

Dents on the furniture

Over the years, you may find that furniture has a dent on it due to any reason. If you want to fix it, you need to put some water in the dent then cover it with a wet cloth.

Now you need an iron and move the iron in the circular motion over the dent. After a while, with enough steam, the dent should be gone.

To avoid getting dents, the placement of the furniture is essential. Make sure that the furniture is away from corners so that the edges don’t get dents often.

Uneven table or chair

Over time, you may find that your wooden chair or table may become uneven. This could be because of wear and tear.

The wobbling of the table or chair can be annoying, and if you want to fix it, then use an electric sander and try to bring it to the same level.

Lamination on the furniture

Lamination is a thin wood-like material that goes on the furniture as the final piece.

It is often shiny to give that clean look. After a few years of use, you can see lamination peeling off the edge, which is not eye appealing.

To fix that, all you need is good glue. Apply glue on lamination and press it against the furniture and voila your furniture will look like new.

Pieces coming apart

If you find 2 pieces of wood that are separating from the seams where initially the two pieces came together.

To solve this, you need a brace and 2 nails. A brace is a metal strip that is in L shape and has 2 holes to put nails in them.

Hold the pieces of wood, place the brace, and drill the nail. There it is, no more wood pieces falling apart. Braces can be useful even in other places where you need to connect things.

Loose joints

Wooden chairs when used lots can often suffer from their joints becoming loose. When this happens you may think its time to replace this chair but all you need is wood glue.

Hold the joints at a proper place then put wood glue all around and hold it that way for good minutes. After that, the joints won’t feel like they are going to fall off.

Door-knob

Door knobs are screwed on the wood but can easily fall off or become loose. This is a very common issue. For this, all you need is a screwdriver.

You can either change the nail with another same sized nail in case the original is rusted. If it’s not rusted then simply just tighten them.

Oiling

New drawer designs have wheels so that they slide out easily, but sometimes the wheel can either fall loose or get stuck. To avoid such situations you need to keep oiling them from time to time.

Oiling or greasing also helps with the furniture’s life, smooth working cabinets become very convenient to use.

Unwanted Stains

In case you had glued a painting of yours or a picture frame or maybe a home decor piece on wood furniture, while removing it you will find glue stains.

If you want to remove them, you can scrape it off with the use of a cabinet scraper.

If you don’t have a cabinet scraper you can just paint the whole wood in the same color that can give you a quick fix that won’t be heavy on your pocket.

Conclusion

Wooden furniture is an absolute, not only they are eco friendly but they help us be organized whether it is our home or our offices.

Maintenance is necessary for anything that we buy clothes, electronics, and even furniture.

And if you are thinking, how can you maintain wooden furniture when you don’t know anything about it.

You don’t need to use big power tools but rather small things like screwdrivers and sandpaper, which are useful even in other situations.

When you maintain your furniture from time-to-time not only will you increase the furniture’s life but also save some bucks that you give after a major issue.
