How to Repair Light Fixture
Ceiling fixtures may be of different shape and size. Generally, they hold on two screws, so the work is not as hard as you may think.
Still, you will need some help – it’s tricky to hold the fixture while working on wires, especially if it is a massive chandelier you are dealing with.
Here is a simple instruction:
- Turn off the wire in the whole house just to be safe. Of course, you may use a circuit tester, but the safest option is to dismiss any possible danger.
- Remove bulbs, shades, etc.
- Loosen the screws and take them away.
- Remove the wires. They are usually in black, white and green color.
- Attach the cables of a new fixture to the electrical box
- Place the new base plate in the right position.
- Put the screws and the bulbs back.
- Turn on the light and enjoy your work. You can be proud of yourself!
How to Repair Pool Light
Surprisingly, you don’t have to pour the water from the pool as it is said on WikiHow.
Firstly, go to the circuit breaking box in your house and turn off the power. Try to turn on and off pool lights and the pump to make sure the electricity is off indeed. This double-check is extremely important.
After that, remove all the screws from the fixture. This is when the screws may easily be lost – make sure you place them securely in your pocket or elsewhere.
Gently pull the light fixture off the wall. The cords must be long enough to give you a chance to take the fixture out to the dry surface and work with it there. The cord may be tangled. If so, go down again and gently untangle it.
When you replace the light burned out or do some other manipulations with the light fixture, avoid accidentally splashing water inside.
After placing a new bulb, you may turn on the power to see if it is really working. Don’t forget to turn everything off afterward.
Some bulbs being turned on out of water may burn out after 5 seconds as there is no water to cool them.
Install the light fixture back and turn on the lights. Now you can swim in the dark with beautiful lightning underneath!
How to Repair Led Light
Led lights break quite often, but they are cheap and easy to repair. Here is what you need to do to fix a led light problem:
- Check if there is some physical damage. It is rare to happen, but you need to check it anyway.
- Take the ohm-meter and check if the candy-looking capacitor gets enough power.
- Find the bad led by noticing a black spot in the middle of it. Remove it.
- Install the new led by using the soldering iron. It is not easy if you are doing it for the first time, but we promise that practice will definitely help you.
- Test if you have done everything right.
- Put all the structures back together and turn on the lights. That’s it!
You may also need to replace the led strip. To do so, remove all the lenses form the casing.
After replacing, check all the electrical connections – you wouldn’t want to disassemble al the construction once again.
Careful! The oily fingerprints you may accidentally leave are going to give ugly lighting, so wipe all the transparent surfaces with a soft dry cloth before you finish your work.
Some Final Words of Encouragement
