Proper Toilet Partition Cleaning

Cleaning toilet partitions usually starts by understanding the material it is made of. There is a wide range of materials that makes up toilet partitions available in the market right now.

The stainless steel for instance has been a timeless classic for most building fixtures and it applies to toilet partitions as well.

Other materials that are used include the plastic laminate, solid phenolic core and more.

As a rule of thumb, cleaning toilet partitions will use a mixture of mild detergent, or any soap for that matter. Make sure that you use warm water and clean the bathroom using common cleaning equipment.

Fixing the Toilet Partition Scratches

Sometimes, when we are over eager in cleaning the toilet partitions, or any fixture for that matter, we may leave out scratch marks.

They are particularly unsightly when it happens on plastic materials because it changes the color of the surface and leaves out dangling bundles of rolled up plastics.

There is a well known trick however on how to fix this. First, you grab a spoon and heat it up. Rub the base of the spoon on the scratched surface until the scratch is no longer visible.

This works because solid plastic can be reshaped when heated. The scratch will not really disappear but the plastic near it melts to cover the spot that had the depression.

Be wary that this only works for solid plastic partitions. To ensure that this does not happen in the future, make use of softer equipment to scratch the surfaces. Instead of steel wool, use a sponge.

Or, if it happens too often and not necessarily due to your method of cleaning, then you could consider changing your bathroom partition with a different material.

Plastics are the least resistant to scratches especially because most bathroom partitions are designed to not have smooth surfaces.

Choosing a Toilet Partition

As mentioned above, there is quite a variety of toilet partitions that you can choose from.

The decision will hinge on many factors and one of them is how you intend to get them cleaned. There are plastics including solid plastic and plastic laminates.

And there are variations in steel as well including powder coated steel and solid phenolic core. The mentioned choices are the most common ones because they are known to be easier to be cleaned.

And if there is anything in the world that requires regular cleaning, it would be the fixtures in the toilet. Of all the choices of materials for the toilet partition, one that stands out as most popular is the powder coated steel.

The reason for this is because toilet partitions made out of them are incredibly durable and more importantly, it can resist corrosion to a certain degree.

Cleaning a Phenolic Toilet Partition

The main draw of the phenolic partition is that it is water-resistant and oil-resistant. This is possible because the layered paper that it is covered with has been soaked in phenolic resin.

This is also why it is resistant to bacteria as well. The material that makes up most of the public toilets are usually phenolic simply because they are more resistant to dirt.

Sometimes, businesses neglect their toilets, particularly how their potential customers may feel about them. Most Americans fear going to the public toilets because of the diseases that they catch.

This is one of the reasons why the phenolic toilets have become a bit more popular. They are expectedly able to ward off germs and bacteria to a certain extent because of the way they are coated.

Of course, how you intend to clean the restroom of your establishment can depend on a lot of factors as well. You may go beyond the soapy warm water and bleach combo.

It can also be heavily influenced by the community and society in general. At the very least, a toilet considered to be public should be cleaned at least once a day.

That is a general rule that seems to translate from each kind of setting. Most of the public nowadays realizes the importance of sanitation and holds public toilets in poor regard.

It is up to your business to change this perception to let your customers feel safe.

The reason why public toilets have gained so much notoriety is perhaps the way they are cleaned. The ideal for everyone involved is for the toilet to be cleaned thoroughly.

This means scrubbing every inch especially the surfaces of the fixtures as well as beneath the bathroom stalls.

Powder-Coated Steel Partitions

The other common type of toilet partition material used is the powder-coated steel. Its main allure is its ability to resist rust and corrosion. In that regard, it is similar to the stainless steel material albeit with even durability.

These toilet partitions consist mainly of steel sheets that are covered with a layer of zinc which is why it is well protected. It will then be cemented and then fused together.

But enough about what it is, you probably want to know how you can clean it.

It may not come as a surprise to you that the powder-coated steel partition is cleaned the same way as the stainless steel variant.

After all, they are quite similar so logic dictates that they are maintained the same way as well. To ensure that you will not scratch the surface and leave unsightly marks on it, use softer materials to brush against it.

A soft cloth or a sponge would probably do the trick without causing damage to the toilet partition surfaces. After cleaning, make sure that you rinse it properly.

Although the powder-coated steel is rust-resistant, constantly running water against the surface may reveal cracks that can then cause the inner metal to rust.

Finally, an added special touch of polishing will ensure that the toilet partition will live to fulfill its intended value.

There is no assurance however as to the protection that the polish would add if the environment is especially moist.

If the toilet is cleaned regularly, this can help but beyond that, you may have to choose a different kind of toilet partition like those based in plastic.
